The All New 7BU now live and local from Burnie.

Press release

May 19

After and 18-year absence, 7BU has returned live and local to Burnie following the launch of a brand new studio at the radio station office in Wilson Street last week.

Officially launching at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery on Monday, May 11, local businesses and Council heard about the all new 7BU from Tasmanian Broadcasters, Executive General Manager, Tim Holder, newly appointed 7BU General Manager, Eve Woodhouse and local breakfast announcer, Leigh Kenworthy.

“The All New 7BU strives to be local and community focused, discussing ‘local’ topics during breakfast, hosted by our local announcer Leigh Kenworthy. Having a new studio in Burnie will benefit the community and community figures such as politicians, business owners and fundraising organisers, giving opportunities to speak on air in the new studio environment. This then, becomes great content for our existing and new listeners.” - Acting 7BU General Manager – Kate Di Vona

The All New 7BU welcomes local announcer, Leigh Kenworthy to the helm of the daily Breakfast Show, bringing you all the most up-to-date topics relevant to the beautiful city of Burnie, from 6-10am. Fellow guru of our state’s North-West, Martin Agatyn joins your Mornings from 10am, and a great variety of network shows including Saturday Sport, AFL Live and the 20/20 Retro Countdown are now also locally devised from our new Burnie studio.

Previously, the station had broadcast from the Tasmanian Broadcasters hub in Launceston & Devonport since 1997.

October 2015 will mark 80 years of broadcasting by 7BU and plans are underway for celebrations, which are expected to be a highlight for the city of Burnie and this local media icon. Details and further announcements of this momentous local milestone to come…
